What is a 3 vs 3 Team Quintet-style Tournament?

Competitors form teams of 3 to compete against other teams of 3. Each team selects 1 competitor to compete in the first match of the round. Winner of the first match stays in to face the next competitor of the opposing team after a short break (approximately 1 minute). Winners continue to stay in until all members of one team have been defeated. The team with at least one member remaining at the end is the winner of the round.

Example: Team Alpha has Competitors 1, 2 and 3. Team Bravo has Competitors 1, 2 and 3.

Alpha Competitor 1 competes against Bravo Competitor 1 in a submission only match.

Alpha Competitor 1 defeats Bravo Competitor 1, so Alpha Competitor 1 stays in to immediately compete against Bravo Competitor 2.

Alpha Competitor 1 defeats Bravo Competitor 2, so Alpha Competitor 1 stays in to immediately compete against Bravo Competitor 3.

Bravo Competitor 3 defeats Alpha Competitor 1, so Bravo Competitor 3 stays in to immediately compete against Alpha Competitor 2.

Alpha Competitor 2 defeats Bravo Competitor 3, eliminating the last remaining member of Team Bravo.

Team Alpha wins! Their team record increases to 1-0, while Team Bravo's record is now 0-1.

Teams: Competitors are responsible for forming their own 3-person team. Each member of the 3-person team must register and select the same team name to be grouped together. Competitors may create new team names during registration if their team name is not in the list.

Draws: Individual matches ending without a submission are considered a draw and both competitors are eliminated. Rounds ending in a draw where neither team has a competitor remaining will be considered a draw.

Bracketing: True round robin-style bracketing. Every team will face every other team in their division once.

Divisions: There are beginner, intermediate and expert divisions broken into male and female divisions, adult and youth (Ages 13 - 15).

Weights: Max weight for a team's 3 competitors: Adult Men: 600 lbs, Adult Women: 500 lbs, Youth: 400 lbs.

Match Lengths: All matches are 6 minutes in length unless there is a 25+ lb weight difference between competitors in that specific match, in which case the match will be 4 minutes in length.

Rankings: Competition winners are determined by the team with the most team wins. If there is a tie, the team with the most individual submissions will win the tiebreaker. If there is a tie with submissions, the team with the fewest losses will win the tiebreaker (Draws do not count as losses).

Match Withdrawals: If a competitor is tired after having a couple of matches and wishes to withdraw from that round, they may do so with no penalty. That withdrawal is not considered a submission victory for the other team. This is a way for teams to give tired competitors a break without awarding a submission victory to their opponents. The drawback, however, is that competitor is considered defeated and may not compete again during that round.
