Athletes who compete in the Team event can compete in one or both the Individual Open Gi & No-Gi Tournament(s) for an additional $45.00. The discount will be applied upon checkout. 

Team Tournament Format

3-Person Modified Quintet is a submission only, round-robin format team tournament where each team picks their own line-up and goes head-to-head with every other team in the bracket.

Interestingly, "Quintet" rulesets call for a "winner-stays-on" format. If the first person on your team line-up beats the first person on the other team, your teammate remains on the mat until a draw or submission is reached. 

Weight Classes

Modified Quintet adopts a "Team Weight" structure. 

Adult Men's Team Weight Limit: 600lbs

Adult Women's Team Weight Limit: 500lbs

Kids 13 and Under Weight Limit: 225lbs

Adult Divisions

We Recommend You Compete in the division appropriate to your skill Level(s):

***Competitors may participate at their belt/skill level or above.

Adult Beginner Division - White Belt (Less than 2 years of grappling experience)

Adult Intermediate Division - Blue-Purple Belt (2-4 years of grappling experience)

Adult Expert Division - Brown-Black Belt (all subs legal, no slams) (4+ years of grappling experience)

Adult Division Basic Ruleset:

Each team will present a Team lineup 1-3.

Winner of the first matchup stays in to face the next competitor from the opposing team.

In the event of a Draw, both fighters are eliminated.

In the event that both teams are down to their last fighters with the match ending in a draw, both teams will reflect a Draw on their record for that round. 

Example: “(0-0-1)”

HOW TO WIN: 

Team Champions & Medalists are determined by Most Team Victories (not individual wins). 

In the event of a draw...

Each team chooses 1 competitor to face-off in a 10-minute Sudden Death Match.

If Sudden Death ends in a draw, the tournament ends in a Draw. 

The Expert Division teams will split the prize money in the event of a Draw.

TIME LIMITS:

1X6min round or 1X4min round*

*(in case of 25+lb weight difference between competitors, matches will be shortened to 4min in length.)*
